The forum was organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) and the German-Croatian Chamber of Industry and Trade as part of a visit by a Bavarian delegation to Croatia, led by Bavarian Economy and Infrastructure Minister Martin Zeil.
Addressing the event, Croatian Economy Minister Djuro Popijac said that Croatia was a high-quality entrepreneurial and investment destination whose rating would be upgraded with the country's admission to the European Union.
He said that Croatia had good infrastructure for attracting foreign investments, citing business zones.
Popijac believes that Croatia should seek its opportunity in Germany's decision to shut down its nuclear power plants in the next 11 years, which he said would change directions in that industry.
He recalled that Croatia would soon announce tenders for the construction of hydro power plants and for the third thermal power plant at Plomin.
Bavarian Minister Zeil said he was looking forward to Croatia's admission to the EU, adding that the Croatian-Bavarian cooperation could be enhanced in energy, environmental protection and logistics. He said that 1,340 Bavarian companies were operating in Croatia and that some 90 of them had their branches in Croatia.
Trade between Croatia and Germany totalled USD 3.7 billion last year, with Croatia's exports to Germany reaching USD 1.2 billion and imports from Germany USD 2.5 billion.
Germany is Croatia's second most important trading partner, with Bavaria making up one quarter of their trade.
