1,000 tonnes of steel to be transported from Sisak to Romania by river

SISAK, May 30 (Hina) - A ship carrying 1,000 tonnes of steel ingots is expected to depart from the Croatian Sava river city of Sisak for the Romanian port of Turn Severin on the Danube river on Wednesday, which will be the first delivery by inland waterway from Sisak to Romania after the 1991-1995 war in Croatia.

The loading of steel ingots aboard the "Galdovo" ship should be completed by Wednesday, "Dunavski Lyod" director Velibor Gacik said on Monday announcing that trial delivery.

The Galdovo ship is expected to cover this 830-kilometre-long route in six days. The cargo will be transshipped by road from Turn Severin to its final destination in Timisoara.

Steel ingots were produced in the CMC steel plant in Sisak.
