ZAGREB, July 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry on Monday refuted yesterday's allegations by the Centre for the protection of the Homeland Defence War dignity, which said the Office for the Protection of the Constitutional
Order (SZUP) during the last several days undertook illegal action to obtain any evidence backing the Hague war crimes tribunal's indictments against generals Ademi and Gotovina. We categorically dismiss allegations by the centre that the SZUP undertook illegal action to obtain any evidence backing the indictments, and is for this purpose, taking in army officers and platoon commanders to blackmail them into giving out "non-existent evidence about war crimes", the Interior Ministry said in a statement released today. ZAGREB, July 30 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry on Monday
refuted yesterday's allegations by the Centre for the protection of
the Homeland Defence War dignity, which said the Office for the
Protection of the Constitutional Order (SZUP) during the last
several days undertook illegal action to obtain any evidence
backing the Hague war crimes tribunal's indictments against
generals Ademi and Gotovina.
We categorically dismiss allegations by the centre that the SZUP
undertook illegal action to obtain any evidence backing the
indictments, and is for this purpose, taking in army officers and
platoon commanders to blackmail them into giving out "non-existent
evidence about war crimes", the Interior Ministry said in a
statement released today.
The Ministry recalled that the SZUP did not have any legal authority
to undertake any measures or actions towards army or Defence
Ministry members, nor had it undertaken such acts.
Such untruths without any arguments consciously or not, disturb the
public, especially war veterans, the Ministry stressed.
