INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION IN FIRST HALF OF 2001 RISES BY 5.9%

ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - Croatia's industrial production in June this year increased by 1.1% as against last year's June. In the first half of this year, industrial production rose by 5.9% in relation to the same period last year, the State Bureau of Statistics reported. Compared to last year's average monthly production, this year's industrial production increased by 11.3%. The manufacturing industry has been providing most impetus to the economic growth, accounting for almost 82% of the overall production. In the first half of this year, it increased by 7.1% as against the same period last year. The mining industry has been stagnating (i.e. decreasing by 0.8%) while power, gas and water supply industries increased by 2%. The production of capital goods dropped by 27.7% while the production of durable consumer goods and power decreased by 5.6 and 0.8% as against last year's June. At the same time, production in the first half of this year increased in all industrial groups, with the production of capital goods having increased most, by 18.3%.
