ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Yet another postponement of the previously
agreed discussions on the relations between Croatia and the UN war
crimes tribunal (ICTY) and on calling a referendum is an
unacceptable model of the communication of the parliamentary
majority with the minority, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
President Ivo Sanader said adding that HDZ MPs would not take part
in the Sabor's discussion on a vote of confidence in the Croatian
government, as it was an internal problem of the ruling coalition.
Sanader told this to reporters after HDZ parliamentarians walked
out of the session, protesting over the decision that the motions
for the relations with the ICTY and the referendum would be
discussed after the debate on the confidence motion.
"We are interested in the relations between Croatia and the
Tribunal and whether ICTY indictments contain unacceptable
political labels, what has lately been speculated, and the Croatian
public has the right to know the truth about it," Sanader said.
Sanader asserted that the incumbent government had lost confidence
of the public and thus it could not enjoy confidence of the HDZ.
He said HDZ MPs would come back in the Sabor's hall after the
completion of the discussion on the confidence motion, which was
under way.
Asked whether the HDZ will take part in the process of casting
ballot for or against confidence, Sanader reiterated that the fact
that HSLS members in the Government offered resignation and that
the government entered a crisis should be treated as a topic
referring to the coalition's internal relations.
