SARAJEVO, July 10 (Hina) - The Deputy Interior Minister of Bosnia's
Croat-Muslim federation, Tomislav Limov, said on Tuesday an
attempt had been made by opponents to the lawful authorities in this
entity to assassinate himself and his family, and that several more
terrorist attacks had also been planned for the same day.
The day before federal Interior Minister Muhamed Besic said police
had found an explosive device planted in Limov's house, preventing
the attempted assassination.
Limov said the aforementioned terrorist attacks were to take place
in Neum, Ljubuski, and Drvar. He added there were also plans to
assassinate "an important person in the Croatian capital."
"Thanks to the good cooperation between the entities' interior
ministries and the Croatian Interior Ministry, all these attempts,
which were synchronised, yielded no results," said Limov.
Behind those attempts are persons "who oppose the legally elected
authorities," he added. Investigations are underway.
The United Nations Mission to Bosnia, whose mandate envisages
supervising the performance of local police, declined to comment on
Limov's and Besic's statements.
Also unanswered was Hina's question if the Mission was familiar
with claims, made by Besic, to the effect that Ivica Pasalic, a
Croatian MP, was the mastermind behind a project aimed at
establishing Croat self-rule in Bosnia, and that Pasalic's
activity had been directly intended to disrupt Bosnia's
constitutional order.
Limov, a member of Bosnia's Social Democratic Party (SDP), says the
opponents of the incumbent authorities, whom he did not name, would
probably continue with their current conduct.
