SARAJEVO, July 9 (Hina) - Serb extremists from the Ravna Gora
Chetnik Movement plan to cause incidents to prevent a commemoration
for victims of the Srebrenica massacre which has been scheduled for
July 11, the interior minister of one of Bosnia's entities, the
Croat-Muslim federation, said in Sarajevo on Monday.
"At the moment that is the most extreme group that wants to
undermine the implementation of the Dayton (peace) agreement,"
Minister Besic told a news conference.
He outlined security measures that have been taken to enable the
laying of a foundation stone in Potocari near Srebrenica on
Wednesday for a monument to thousands of Bosniaks killed in May
1995, when Serb units, under Ratko Mladic's command, conquered the
former UN safety zone in eastern Bosnia.
Besic reminded the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement had been active at
the time of the former Yugoslav federation and was now very active
in Bosnia's other entity, the Republic of Srpska.
"They organised incidents in Trebinje and Banja Luka, and we know
about their plans in connection with Srebrenica, as well as that
they got money to organise incidents from donors which are familiar
to us," said the minister.
Hina inquired about the Movement's political connections. "The
Radical Party and the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) are behind them.
Vojislav Seselj is directly behind them," Besic said.
He maintains the Ravna Gora Chetniks should not be underestimated
as they are "ready for everything in order to prevent (Bosnia's)
integration."
The federal Interior Ministry has forwarded its entire information
about the Movement to Bosnian Serb authorities, which continue to
claim they "have no proof that the Banja Luka and Trebinje incidents
were organised."
The Bosnian Serb police have the biggest responsibility for
providing security at the Potocari commemoration. The entity's
authorities planned on engaging about 1,300 police to protect the
participants in the commemoration.
Between 5,000-6,000 people are expected to arrive in Srebrenica on
Wednesday, mostly surviving residents as well as numerous
representatives of the diplomatic corps.
