They presented the results of a police operation codenamed "Dogma" in which they recently broke a cocaine smuggling ring and arrested five members of the said cartel after they took over a cocaine delivery in Spain and another six Croatians who are currently in the Bilice prison in Split. The Croatian Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) in the meantime has requested a 30-day investigating detention to be set for thee smugglers in Croatia.
"USKOK suspects that one of the arrestees has formed a criminal organisation that smuggled at least 718 kilogrammes of cocaine from April 2010 to May this year," USKOK Deputy Director Natalija petkovic told today's news conference.
The other five men arrested in this operation are behind bars in Spain.
The Spanish "Guardia Civil" caught them carrying on a rubber boat cocaine supplies which had just arrived in Valencia aboard a ship from Brazil. The Spanish police seized 360 kilogrammes of the illegal narcotic when they arrested the smugglers.
After that, the final part of the comprehensive police operation, which was launched in late 2008, was carried out in the Croatian cities of Zagreb, Split and Zadar, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The flats of the suspects in Bosnia and their offices in the Czech Republic were searched.
The entire job was overseen by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
