BELGRADE, June 20 (Hina) - There are 390,000 refugees in Yugoslavia from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, while internally displaced persons from Kosovo number about 230,000, spokeswoman of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
in Belgrade, Maki Shinohara, said today. In relation to data from 1996, the number of refugees in Yugoslavia fell by 30 percent. Out of the total registered number of refugees, 60 percent have said they wish to remain in Yugoslavia, she said, adding that only 5.3 percent want to return to their homes, and 25 percent are undecided. The spokeswoman did not precisely state how many refugees are from Croatia and how many there are form Bosnia. On the occasion of the World Refugee Day, Shinohara told a news conference in Belgrade the daily influx of refugees from Macedonia to Yugoslavia has fallen in relation to last week when the UNHCR registered 700 cases of border crossings daily.(hina) lml sb
