PRIME MINISTER ATTENDS FIRST PLIVA FORUM

ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan participated at the first Pliva forum, the meeting between managers of the Croatian pharmaceutical company and a government delegation. Pliva said in a statement at last night's forum in his introductory speech Prime Minister Racan recalled the course of the government's mandate so far, stressing Croatia had only four to five years to achieve good economic results. He added he expects Croatia to enter the EU by the end of 2006. This is an ambitious goal, and this and the next government will be facing laborious work and unpopular actions. We do not have other choice but to use the process of European integration for additional speeding up of Croatia's development, the Prime Minister stressed, adding that Croatia has a lot to offer Europe, and the process was not unilateral. Pliva's management board chairman Zeljko Covic expressed satisfaction with Racan's arrival at the forum, and stressed the course of talks at the forum only confirmed the company's readiness to contribute to the building up of a European and educated Croatia which will rest on research and technological development and other advantages Croatia has.
