FIVE-PARTY COALITION DISCUSSES BORDER WITH SLOVENIA, LJUBLJANSKA BANKA

ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - The leaders of Croatia's ruling five-party coalition on Monday held a meeting on the constitution of local authorities after the elections and the resolution of open issues between Croatia and Slovenia. Prime Minister Ivica Racan told reporters he used the meeting to "test" possible compromise solutions to the remaining two open issues - the border and the savings deposits of Croatian citizens in the Ljubljanska Banka. Racan said that in the next several days he would meet his Slovene counterpart Janez Drnovsek to discuss the results of today's meeting. He could not give any details about the solutions discussed. "If they prove realistic, we will all be satisfied that the open issues can be resolved in the interest of both states." He said that he would be able to give more details in the next several days if both sides confirmed their readiness to start solving the two open issues. The coalition also discussed the establishment of local bodies of authority after the elections. As regards that issue, we have been facing certain problems and we have agreed to try and solve them in the next several days, he said. (hina) rml
