INVESTIGATIVE PROCEEDINGS AGAINST MILOSEVIC COMPLETED

BELGRADE, June 18 (Hina) - The Belgrade county court has completed investigative proceedings against former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic and three of his closest associates, the court reported today. The investigative judge today handed over all the gathered documents to the state prosecutor. Milosevic and former prime ministers Nikola Sainovic and Jovan Zebic, along with former federal customs commissioner Mihalj Kertes, have been charged with the abuse of office and causing harm to the state budget of about DM800,000. Milosevic has been held in custody since April 1, and after a month the court ordered his detention extended for another two months, until June 1. The international war crimes tribunal is requesting Milosevic's extradition, while Belgrade holds that he should be tried in Yugoslavia first.
