WASHINGTON, June 12 (Hina) - The United States has greeted a recent joint statement of Croatian and Yugoslav Presidents, Stjepan Mesic and Vojislav Kostunica respectively, describing it as a constructive move which fortifies the
foundations of the normalisation of the bilateral ties. Their (the presidents') stands contribute not only to the interests of Croatia and Yugoslavia, but also to peace and stability in a wider area, said a spokesman for the State Department, Philip Reeker, on Tuesday. The constructive document which Presidents Mesic and Kostunica signed in Verbania, Italy on Friday, strengthens the basis of the normalisation of the relations between the two countries, Reeker said.
