SKOPJE, June 4 (Hina) - Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski and
the leaders of the country's parliamentary parties met on Sunday
evening for talks which tackled the representation of Albanians in
the administration and the decentralisation of local self-
government.
It was agreed the government should prepare an employment scheme
and tackle activities necessary to pass a new self-government law,
Trajkovski said after the talks.
Speaking to the A1 television station on Sunday evening, Prime
Minister Ljubco Georgievski said the incumbent government must
introduce a broad usage of the Albanian language and change the
Constitution. Changes to the Constitution and the decentralisation
of power to local self-government leads to the federalisation of
Macedonia, he said.
Asked if as prime minister he felt responsible for the current armed
conflicts, Georgievski said many elements indicated that "what is
happening now was not planned two years ago but is a long-term
strategy which, given the world's sympathy towards Kosovo,
concluded that now was the right moment to stage an armed Albanian
uprising against Macedonia."
There is a well-organised political, military and logistic
structure which enjoys the support of Macedonian Albanians, which
is why new fronts are breaking out all the time, the Macedonian
prime minister said.
