SPLIT, May 25 (Hina) - The Croatian and Yugoslav Foreign Ministers,
Tonino Picula and Goran Svilanovic, held talks in the southern
Croatian city of Split on Thursday.
After the talks, the two ministers expressed satisfaction and said
the relations between Croatia and the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia were constantly improving.
Minister Svilanovic accepted the invitation of his Croatian
counterpart to officially visit Zagreb in late June.
Picula said the talks tackled a series of issues which would soon be
regulated by agreements between Croatia and Yugoslavia.
"There are agreements we are ready to sign, namely in economy and
economic cooperation, some agreements are being drafted and some
should be ratified in both parliaments," Croatian Minister Picula
said.
Both countries showed great interest in solving the border issue --
the issue of Prevlaka which is significant for both countries,
Picula said, adding the two parties would start negotiations in mid
June aiming at solving this important issue, which is also an
international obligation of both countries.
Yugoslav Minister Svilanovic said the proof of the two countries'
good relations are meetings of the two foreign ministers at
multilateral events.
Svilanovic expressed Yugoslavia's interest in the solving of open
issues with Croatia, including borders and the issue of Prevlaka
and the promotion of trade. He also expressed satisfaction with the
Croatian government standpoint on the further liberalisation of
the visa regime.
Svilanovic expressed hope some issues would be solved before his
visit to Zagreb, particularly those regarding Croatia's cultural
heritage currently located in Serbia, namely Yugoslavia.
