LJUBLJANA, May 15 (Hina) - Slovenia has given up a request whereby, even if it were admitted to the European Union, it would resume trade relations with Croatia for another decade on the basis of a bilateral free trade agreement.
Slovenia's negotiator with the EU, Janez Potocnik, told the Slovene Chamber of Commerce the Stabilisation and Association Agreement Croatia initialled with the EU on Monday took into account Slovenia's interests as well. Slovenia's existing agreements on free trade with Croatia and Macedonia fit into the EU's changed policy Brussels adopted toward the region last year. Slovenia will therefore make efforts to sign similar agreements with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Yugoslavia as well, but they will be in force only until admission to the EU, Potocnik explained.(hina) sb rml
