RIJEKA, May 9 (Hina) - On the occasion of Europe Day, Croatian European Integration Minister Ivan Jakovcic said in Rijeka on Wednesday Croatia should ratify an agreement on full membership in the European Union by 2006 or first half
of 2007. According to Jakovcic, only a year after the ratification, Croatia could participate in the elections for the European parliament. Therefore, Jakovcic stressed, the Croatian government is obliged to, by 2006, prepare the country for full membership in the European Union, an association which should include all European values, namely state, regional, and civil. Close to 80 percent of the Croatian population, who are pro joining the European Union, are a strong support to all who are making decisions and working in that direction, Jakovcic said.(hina) it sb
