MAKARSKA, May 7 (Hina) - A seminar entitled "Planning of National Security and Defence Reform" began in Makarska Monday under the organisation of the Defence Ministry and the "George C. Marshall" European security studies centre. The
government national security, defence and armed forces programme has set the following tasks: the preservation of national security, maintaining a high degree of combat readiness and the optimal number of armed forces, as well as transparency of the defence system and Croatia's integration into international military and political alliances, Croatian Assistant Defence Minister Zlatko Gareljic said. Stressing the building of an armed forces as an institution void of politics is one of essential tasks for the Defence Ministry, Gareljic said that both the reform of the defence system and active participation in the Partnership for Peace programme were a part of the obligations Croatia will be fulfilling
