modified organisms which pooled representatives of various ministries, non-governmental organisations, and experts. Croatia is one of 90 states who signed the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety as part of the Convention of Biological Diversity. The Protocol regulates the transborder transit of genetically modified organisms on the international level. The Protocol intends to preserve biological diversity and human health. It will come into force after ratification by 50 states. To date only two of 90 have done so.
