opened in the southern Adriatic town of Dubrovnik on Monday. Croatia is a participant in the programme as of last year, when Croatian universities put forward 36 projects, of which only five were adopted due to budget restrictions. This year Croatia put forward 24 projects, which will first be evaluated by representatives of the European Commission, and finally by internationally renowned experts from Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, and Romania. The TEMPUS programme was established in 1990 by the European Community Council of Ministers to financially assist countries of Central and East Europe with economic rehabilitation.
