CONGRESS ON CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL TERRORISM BEGINS IN DUBROVNIK

DUBROVNIK DUBROVNIK, April 23 (Hina) - The seventh world congress on chemical and biological terrorism started in the southern Croatian town of Dubrovnik on Monday. The event, organised under sponsorship of the Croatian and United States authorities, has drawn 177 experts and scientists from 42 countries. Until 27 April when the congress ends, they will present 98 research papers on this topic. Units of the Croatian Interior Ministry and army troops will carry out an exercise in relation to this issue. Croatia has been for the second time the host of such congress. The first congress on chemical and biological terrorism was held in Zagreb, Kutina and Dubrovnik in 1998. According to Croatia's Deputy Defence Minister, Zlatko Gareljic, the purpose of this congress in Dubrovnik is to show that chemical and biological weapons are not the only means with which someone with evil intentions can launch terror
