ZAGREB, April 19 (Hina) - Istrian police on Thursday morning spotted an Italian boat fishing illegally in the Croatian territorial waters, 900 metres from the sea border. Despite the warnings of policemen and shots, the fishing vessel
did not stop to wait Croatian policemen but returned into the Italian waters. According to a statement of the Croatian Interior Ministry, the commander of the police vessel gave the order in the Croatian and English language to Italian fishermen to stop sailing, but they disobeyed the order. After that the police tried to stop the Italian boat with sound and light signals and fired a few flares. All of that was in vain, and the Italian boat tried to hit the police vessel. waters.

After that the police tried to stop the Italian boat with sound and
light signals and fired a few flares. All of that was in vain, and
the Italian boat tried to hit the police vessel.

Nevertheless, the Italian boat continued to sail towards the
Italian border and Croatia's vessel discontinued the chase when it
approached the borderline.
The Interior Ministry informed the Foreign Ministry of the
incident.
