OSIJEK, April 4 (Hina) - The Osijek County police on Thursday arrested five persons suspected of passing forged German mark banknotes. The police have issued warrants for the arrest of two other men, believed to be their accessories,
who are on the run. According to a county police department official, between March 23 and April 3 this year, the arrested persons passed a number of forged DEM 1,000 banknotes in the area of Nasice, Osijek, Djurdjenovac, Donji Miholjac and Koska, and in Virovitica-Podravina County. Eleven such banknotes have been discovered in Osijek County and another two have been discovered in Virovitica County. The police warn that a number of forged banknotes are still in circulation. The quality of the forgeries is very good, the police official said, adding the forgeries were discovered by a restaurant owner.
