MOSTAR, April 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-
Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) leadership on Thursday reiterated that the
latest actions which were taken against Bosnian Croats, in
particular the Hercegovacka Bank, were aimed at "eliminating
Croats as a political people in Bosnia."
We regard the forcible raid into the Hercegovacka Banka as a well-
planned and politically-motivated blow to the economic and social
basis of the Croat-populated Bosnian areas, read a statement issued
after the HDZ Presidency's session in Mostar.
The party maintains that the imposing of legal solutions and
coercive interventions in the economic and political life are aimed
at "breaking the legitimate resistance and crushing the political
will of the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina."
The HDZ expressed regret at "the misuse of the Stabilisation Force
and a part of the federal Interior Ministry in the politically-
motivated violence over the Croat people,", and appealed for peace
and dialogue which are the only means that could help overcome the
political crisis in Bosnia.
The party also deplored any terrorist act describing such acts as
being contrary to the Croat people's interest.
It believes that there are attempts to turn the Croat political
issue into a security one, and the HDZ has so far tried to counter
such bids.
In this context the party calls on police and judiciary to process
liable persons.
The HDZ Presidency expressed astonishment at the stand of the
authorities in Zagreb, as Croatia's senior officials held talks
with Bosnian Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija whom the HDZ BiH
holds personally responsible for the scenario of "armoured
personnel carriers and black hoods" in the Hercegovacka Banka last
Friday.
The party claims that Croatia's officials had talked with
Lagumdzija about "the set-up of a wall towards the Croat people in
the economic, communication and transport sense."
It reiterated that the reasons for the current crisis in Bosnia lie
in the new electoral rules introduced by the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
