CROATIAN GOVERNMENT ADOPTS BILL ON PRIVATISATION

ZAGREB, April 5 (Hina) - At Thursday's session the Croatian government adopted a new bill on privatisation which envisages five ways of privatising stock and stocks from the Croatian Privatisation Fund portfolio. According to the bill, the stock and shares of more than 2,300 companies in the portfolio could be sold at accountancy value; through the workers' shares programme, or through selling to employees at very acceptable prices; through the sale to Croatian citizens with a discount and payment in rates; the sale at the price of one kuna with the obligation of taking over all old debts of the company; or though a direct agreement. The bill stipulates a separate law should regulate the privatisation of the INA oil company, HEP utility company, Croatian Post, Croatian Railways and Croatian Forests. The government has committed the Tourism Ministry to make a draft law on camps, which should provide an answer to the

This was a subject of polemic at the government session. Vice-Premier Slavko Linic said the coast is protected by Maritime Law, and the new law should regulate the privatisation of construction sites. (hina) lml sb
