RIJEKA, March 5 (Hina) - The trial of tycoon Josip Gucic and four other persons accused of causing some 400 million kuna (approx. $48.78 million) of damage through economic crimes began at the county court in the northern Adriatic
city of Rijeka on Monday. The indictment charges Gucic, former supervisory board chairman and owner of the Rijeka-based Brodokomerc company, the company's former directors Bojana Glavas, Franko Bajlo, and Goran Culic, with abuse of office and powers in the business of Brodokomerc and other companies of the Gucic Group corporation, and manipulation with business banks' loans. According to the indictment, the four parties are responsible for causing 329 million kuna (approx. $40.1 million) in damage. The indictment also charges the director of the Eurona company, Nenad Bukvic. All five said they understood the indictment and pleaded not guilty. The trial resumes tomorrow.(
