BELGRADE, April 2 (Hina) - Another charge has been filed against Slobodan Milosevic, namely for instigating three of his supporters to prevent authorised persons from arresting him, the chief of Serbia's public security, Sreten Lukic,
said on Monday. The former Yugoslav head of state was taken into custody yesterday on charges of corruption and abuse of office. His daughter Marija Milosevic has also been charged, with illegal possession of a weapon, said Lukic. He added Milosevic was also "included" in criminal charges against Sinisa Vucinic, Bogoljub Bjelic and Radovan Matesic, who have also been arrested, for armed resistance during last weekend's police operation undertaken to apprehend Milosevic. Lukic said evidence was being intensively collected against Vucinic and "other people" in connection with "much more serious" crimes, which have elements of armed rebellion and organising people for "wider operations." BELGRADE, April 2 (Hina) - Another charge has been filed against
Slobodan Milosevic, namely for instigating three of his supporters
to prevent authorised persons from arresting him, the chief of
Serbia's public security, Sreten Lukic, said on Monday.
The former Yugoslav head of state was taken into custody yesterday
on charges of corruption and abuse of office. His daughter Marija
Milosevic has also been charged, with illegal possession of a
weapon, said Lukic.
He added Milosevic was also "included" in criminal charges against
Sinisa Vucinic, Bogoljub Bjelic and Radovan Matesic, who have also
been arrested, for armed resistance during last weekend's police
operation undertaken to apprehend Milosevic.
Lukic said evidence was being intensively collected against
Vucinic and "other people" in connection with "much more serious"
crimes, which have elements of armed rebellion and organising
people for "wider operations."
Two armoured vehicles belonging to the Yugoslav military were found
in the yard of Milosevic's former villa, Lukic recalled, adding
large amounts of weapons and ammunition were found inside the
villa, including explosive devices, bombs, machine guns, hand-held
rocket launchers, rifles, tear-gas, and rifle grenades.
Milosevic was found with a 9mm Sig.sauer gun with 25 bullets, which
he used to "wave to negotiators," said the police officer. He added
some 30 people were at the Milosevic residence at the time of the
arrest.
Some people at the residence surrendered to the police before the
arrest operation, while most stayed and assaulted the police, said
Lukic, adding one policeman was seriously and three lightly injured
in the operation.
At the time of the arrest, Milosevic's daughter Marija fired five
random shots. It has been said she fired at Cedomir Jovanovic, a
government negotiator, when he was getting into a car after he
succeeded in making Milosevic surrender.
