ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - We are seeking a continuation of dialogue
in Bosnia-Herzegovina to find a solution which would secure the
equality of all three peoples in the entire territory, Croatian
Prime Minister Ivica Racan said Thursday after a meeting of leaders
of the six ruling parties in Croatia.
Croatia wishes to contribute to the stability in Bosnia-
Herzegovina which is non-existent without the equality of all three
peoples in the entire territory, Racan said, warning that hasty and
extremist decision and conduct could harm Croat national interests
in Bosnia.
Draft conclusions of the six ruling Croatian parties to be
discussed at tomorrow's parliamentary session focusing on the
Dayton Agreement will go in this direction, Racan stressed.
He recalled that a discussion on a draft constitution for Bosnia-
Herzegovina will begin in Bosnia soon, and this opportunity must be
exploited as well as possible.
Asked by a reporter about what he expected from the upcoming session
of the Croat National Assembly in Mostar, Racan expressed hope
sobriety and responsibility would prevail, and people to be
nominated for further talks in Bosnia-Herzegovina would be those
who will contribute to finding solutions.
The government has numerous contacts and is speaking with many
because the Croatian initiative can succeed only in a measure in
which we succeed to be a part of the international initiative, not
in opposition to the international community, he said.
Replying to a question, Racan said that the suggestion by the
president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) Drazen Budisa
on the cantonisation of Bosnia-Herzegovina was one possible
solution, but should a better solution be found, nobody will insist
on Budisa's.
It is currently exceptionally important to achieve agreement from
all those who mean something in Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially
within the international community, to shed light on problems and
open issues which should be solved. We are prepared to discuss
various solutions, Racan stressed.
