NOVI SAD, March 15 (Hina) - Establishing and developing economic
relations between Croatian and Yugoslav companies requires the
adoption of adequate agreements and contracts, it was said during a
visit of a delegation of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Zagreb
branch to Novi Sad on Thursday.
"The economic cooperation between Croatia and Yugoslavia will be
difficult to develop if adequate agreements are not signed," said
the head of the Zagreb Chamber of Commerce, Zlatan Froelich, who
heads the delegation which also includes representatives from some
30 Zagreb companies. The delegation arrived in Yugoslavia's
northern province of Vojvodina this morning.
Froelich said the two sides should primarily ratify a trade
agreement and an agreement on avoiding double taxation as well as
expedite the issuing of business visas, organise customs services,
recognise international green cards for the insurance of vehicles
and start talks on the establishment of a free trade zone between
the two countries.
Froelich recalled that the issues to be discussed also included
accelerating succession and signing a bilateral agreement on
navigation and joint maintenance of the Danube River.
Novi Sad mayor Borislav Novakovic said at a reception for the Zagreb
guests today's visit was "good for the Yugoslav economy" and
explained that over the past years the country's economy had been in
a state of "monopolistic lethargy" due to lack of competition.
The Zagreb delegation will also visit Subotica.
