ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of Representatives on Wednesday evening finished a discussion on a draft act proposed by Jadranka Kosor, a member of the opposition HDZ, about the rise in maternity leave's
grants so that they may reach last year's levels. Kosor of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said an amount of 200 million kuna (50 million German marks) could be found so that some means be transferred for that purpose from the representational funds of the Government, the parliament and other state bodies. She abandoned plans to ask an urgent procedure for her act explaining her belief that the bill had better chances for "survival" in the two regular readings. Owing to a lack of quorum this evening, the lower house did not vote on draft amendments to the budget execution law under which salaries of Croatia's top officials, ministers and MPs will be cut by 10 percent.
