Asked by Dragutin Bracun of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) when one could expect the rise in economy and salaries, Antunovic answered that in 2000 salaries rose by ten percent on average and the economic growth had the same positive trends. Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund could not be brought in relation with a wage policy, she explained adding that the Government was conducting talks with all institutions that could contribute to the removal of obstacles in faster economic growth. Asked by Ante Dzelalija of the HDZ about the issue of the areas of
the special state concern, Antunovic replied that privileges and
concessions for inhabitants in the said areas would be solved in a
package when the Government made another relating the situation in
those regions.
She announced a special session of the Ivica Racan Cabinet on the
matter.
Miroslav Rozic of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) was interested
in the Government's stand on the participation of Hrvoje Glavac, an
assistant to the Croatian Environmental Protection Minister, in a
recent meeting of Croatian and Serbian intellectuals in Belgrade
who discussed the issue of reconciliation.
Rozic asked about Glavac's announcement that the two countries
would soon set up the payment operations and ease visa regimes.
Antunovic answered that Glavac had paid private visit to Belgrade
and spoke on his own behalf on the meeting.
The Croatian Government has nothing to do with his statements. The
Environmental Protection Minister has been acquainted with the
case so that after the talks it will be possible to give further
answers, she added.
