NEW CROATIAN INITIATIVE CONDEMNS DECISIONS OF CROAT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

SARAJEVO, March 6 (Hina) - The New Croatian Initiative (NHI), a Bosnian Croat party, believes that the decisions of the Croat National Assembly (endorsed at a session in southern Bosnia- Herzegovina town of Mostar) represent the return of the old policy of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which it says is entirely inappropriate in the present circumstances. "Withdrawing HDZ representatives from institutions of authority is actually the most absurd form of protection of the rights and interests of the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina," read a statement issued by the NHI, adding such acts aimed only at the protection of corrupted individuals from the HDZ leadership. The NHI believes that the current state organisation of Bosnia- Herzegovina does not meet the needs of its citizens, however, the change of the current situation cannot be forced in an unconstitutional and non-democratic way. A decision of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Constitutional Court on the quality of being constituent of all three peoples throughout the country could be the basis for the change of the current situation, and it was exactly the HDZ that objected its adoption, the NHI said in the statement. The NHI also said its members would continue to advocate the equal status of the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina, however, through the legal institutions of authority. (hina) it sb
