ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - President Stipe Mesic on Tuesday held talks on the situation in Croatia and the region with UN's special rapporteur on human rights Jiri Dienstbier. Dienstbier told reporters after the talks he commended what
the Croatian government was doing presently, as well as its intentions. He said Croatia had many problems, but conceded problems existed everywhere. They occur due to differences between government intentions and their implementation, added Dienstbier. He said today's talks also mentioned the need of having a regional approach in settling issues such as refugee returns, property rights and trafficking in humans. Some of these issues have to be settled within the entire region. Dienstbier voiced hope impending local elections in Croatia will contribute to improving the situation in the country.(hina) ha
