He was transferred from Zagreb to Rijeka under police escort.
On 5 February a decision was made on the detention of General Norac,
and two days later, after he failed to appear before the Rijeka
court, a warrant for his arrest was issued. He turned himself in to
Zagreb police yesterday afternoon.
Norac, who is under suspicion of having committed war crimes
against civilians in 1991, will be questioned by Rijeka court's
investigating judge, Sajonara Culina, at 06.00 pm today.
Judge Culina has been conducting an investigation against war
crimes suspects in the Gospic Group since last September.
So far she interviewed over 100 witnesses.
The prime suspect in this case, Tihomir Oreskovic, and another
three suspects - Ivica Rozic, Stjepan Grandic, Milan Canic - are in
custody. As of today General Norac will also be kept in custody of
the Rijeka court. Three suspects - Joso Miletic, Ivan Jovanovic and
Martin Markovic - have been released from custody and will further
be processed without being detained.
