KUTINA, Feb 6 (Hina) - Gas supply to the Croatian chemical industry
Petrokemija from Kutina has been restored and the company has
continued the production of mineral fertilisers, however, a
permanent solution is still being sought, a headquarters for the
protection of Petrokemija said in a statement on Tuesday.
Petrokemija stopped operating on January 25 after the oil company
INA stopped supplying it with gas. Following the normalisation of
supply, the plant resumed operating on February 26.
The headquarters said the company's supervisory board would hold a
session tomorrow to discuss the election of the company's new
director.
The activities of the headquarters will resume with the aim of
finding a more permanent solution for the company's operation in
line with an agreement on its privatisation from 1998, the
statement said. Once the company's ownership structure as defined
by the agreement has been established, the headquarters said it
would be ready to accept a serious analysis and debate about the
company's restructuring.
Restructuring aimed solely at laying off workers and setting apart
some sectors of the company, without a clear vision of their future,
will never be accepted, the headquarters said.
The government will discuss the financial consolidation of
companies in which it holds a majority share, including
Petrokemija, at a session in mid-February.
