ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - The Croatian government in 2000 managed to reduce a steep increase of unemployment, Prime Minister Ivica Racan said Wednesday answering to numerous questions on the employment at a session of the Croatian
parliament's House of Representatives. The Prime Minister announced that this year the government would open more jobs than in 2000, when 118,000 new jobs were opened. Referring to objections of representatives of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), Racan said that in 2000, 17,000 people sought early retirement, while in 1999, namely during the HDZ rule, 60,000 retired early.(hina) it sb
