ZAGREB, Jan 10 (Hina) - Croatian Health Minister Ana Stavljenic Rukavina on Wednesday announced her ministry would initiate and finance a study on the frequency of leukaemia cases in Croatia in the past ten years. The study will look
into suspicions that a certain number of people became ill with leukaemia having taken part in combat. An analysis based on statistic indicators of the illness and profiles of affected persons will be performed in cooperation with the Croatian haematological society, Croatian Health Insurance Institute and experts in the field, Rukavina told Hina. Following studies performed by the World Health Organisation and other international organisations, there seems to be a dominant opinion that ammunition with depleted uranium should not be a cause of increased cases of leukaemia, Rukavina asserted, stressing however, every suspicion demanded a certain medical probe and observat
