ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - On the occasion of the first anniversary of parliamentary elections, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday said it was satisfied with the ruling coalition's achievements in the first year of its
mandate, stressing however that Croatia was still in a difficult situation. The strongest party in the six-party coalition says in a statement that over the past year Croatia has made a considerable step forward in the fields of internal and external affairs, and that many of the ruling coalition's pre-electoral promises have been fulfilled "despite numerous difficulties, obstacles, even imputations." Singled out as the most important achievements are Croatia's access to NATO's Partnership for Peace programme and the World Trade Organisation, and the commencement of negotiations with the European Union on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement. achievements in the first year of its mandate, stressing however
that Croatia was still in a difficult situation.
The strongest party in the six-party coalition says in a statement
that over the past year Croatia has made a considerable step forward

ruling coalition's pre-electoral promises have been fulfilled

Singled out as the most important achievements are Croatia's access

In the statement, SDP also points out the new government has
demonstrated resoluteness and willingness to take unpopular steps
in the belief that in the future they will lead to a prosperous
Croatia.
In the next three years of its mandate, SDP is resolute to show that
on Jan. 3, 2000 the Croatian citizens chose the right path, says the
statement signed by SDP vice president Zeljka Antunovic.
