Expressing satisfaction with the visit of the high Croatian state
delegation to the Socialist People's Arabic Jamahiria of Libya,
Gaddafi said he appreciated the progress made in relations between
the two countries and peoples.
He stressed the role of Croatia and President Stjepan Mesic in
promoting the understanding of the Arab question, notes the
statement, quoting Gaddafi as saying he expected President Mesic to
visit Libya soon. The Croatian delegation handed Gaddafi a personal
message by President Mesic.
Minister Picula stressed the importance of the countries' economic
cooperation as well as Mesic's visit to Libya and al-Gaddafi's
visit to Croatia, which he said would open new chapters in bilateral
relations, notes the statement.
During Picula's visit, the countries' officials signed agreements
on economic cooperation and trade, investment promotion and
protection, and cooperation between their foreign ministries.
Picula's visit to Tripoli marks the end of his tour of Arab
countries, which included Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Libya. The
Croatian minister met the countries' highest officials, which
confirms the role and reputation Croatia enjoys in the Arab world,
the statement notes.
The Croatian delegation also included representatives from the
Economy Ministry, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, and Croatian
companies operating in Arab countries.
