ZAGREB/CAIRO, Dec 15 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino
Picula, who on Sunday was in Cairo within his visit to the Near East,
met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a spokesman for the
Croatian foreign ministry, Zarko Plevnik, told Hina. #L#
During their one-hour-long meeting, Minister Picula informed
President Mubarak about Zagreb's stands on the situation and
problems in south-eastern Europe, relations with neighbours and
his country's bids to come closer to the European Union.
Mubarak informed Picula of the situation in the Near East and on the
Israeli-Palestinian relations as well as of the situation in Iraq.
The Croatian official relayed President Stjepan Mesic's invitation
to the Egyptian head of state to visit Zagreb, and voiced Croatia's
wish that Egypt be a partner-country at one of the coming autumn
fairs in Zagreb.
After being received by Mubarak, Picula held talks with the
Egyptian parliament's president, Fadi Suror, and later in the day
he will meet his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Maher and Premier Atef
Abeid.
Picula and Egyptian Transport Minister Hamdi Abdel Salem El-Fahib
are expected to sign a bilateral agreement on maritime transport.
A Croatian delegation of business people, led the Chamber of
Commerce (HGK) head, Nadan Vidosevic, is also paying a visit to
Cairo where Vidosevic is to present the Croatian economy later in
the day.
