"The monument to Valtazar Bogisic is the confirmation of the
historical maturity of the contemporary generations that correctly
treat values from the Montenegrin history," said Djukanovic at the
ceremony in front of Law School in Podgorica where the monument was
erected.
The act is also "a kind of expression of sincere regret about all
what had happened in early 1990s in Cavtat, Bogisic's hometown,"
Djukanovic added.
Let the monument be a symbol of the connection between our history
and culture and a herald of new relations between Montenegro and
Croatia, as well as between others in the region, on the path
towards our joint European goal," the former Montenegrin president
said.
Cavtat, a Croatian coastal town near the border with Montenegro,
was exposed to the Yugoslav (Serbian-Montenegrin) aggression and
occupied for some time in 1991-1992.
