Osijek County Court with new witness testimonies. #L#
Of the ten defendants, accused of war crimes against the civil
population, only one - Dragan Marjanovic - is present at the trial,
while the other nine are being tried in absentia.
They are indicted for the physical and mental abuse of the residents
of Luc, eastern Croatia, which they committed between 1991 and 1995
as members of the so-called Territorial Defence. They are also
indicted for having restricted the movement of local Croats, for
sacking them and for intimidating them by firing at their houses and
by arresting them.
Marjanovic is accused of having damaged, together with several
other persons, a local Catholic church, and of having been involved
in the forced conscription of Croats.
A witness, Boro Bermanec, said he had not seen Marjanovic, but he
had heard that he had opened fire at the church.
A witness, Delfa Laus, described the torture and suffering to which
she had been exposed during the Serb occupation of Luc.
The trial will resume on Friday.
