The "police in the community" project envisages the founding of
community councils which would be in charge of the safety of
citizens, Lucin said at a news conference.
The aim of the project is to have police officers viewed as
employees in the service of citizens, and the project's goal is
preventing crime, he said.
Lucin said that the "coast guard" project would be presented at a
government session in March, while it will begin to be implemented
in January 2004.
This project will prevent the frequent collisions of jurisdiction
among various institutions dealing with security in the Adriatic,
said Lucin.
