ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - Only some ten minutes after it resumed its
26th sitting on Thursday morning, the Croatian parliament broke off
the session for ten minutes at the request of some party benches
during a vote on changes to the law on the salaries of judges and
other judicial officials. #L#
The Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and Libra party benches requested
a break to consult about a proposal that the parliament bind the
government to make a systematic salary model for judicial officials
which would incorporate the right to a 0.5% bonus for every year of
service, the maximum total bonus being 20%. It has been proposed
that the government draw up the proposal on time so that it could be
implemented as of January 2004.
The MPs were informed about the proposal by Deputy Justice Minister
Miljenko Kovac, after which the two benches requested a break.
The parliament today adopted a law on changes to the law on the areas
and seats of the State Prosecution.
