In keeping with a court order, some 200 police officers and special
police troops took part in the action of de-blockading the
entrance, by removing three busses which were driven by protesters
in front of the main entrance to the company almost month ago.
There were no incidents during the police intervention, and only
one protester, who had laid down by the bus, was taken by police.
A protester, Marinko Vidakovic, told reporters that the workers
would try again blockade the entrance after the police left the
scene.
Under the court order, the police had to remove three out of a dozen
busses which the protesters had parked in front of the main and back
entrances.
In one of the busses there is a protester who handcuffed himself to
the steering wheel. He said he would drive the bus back after the
police went.
Workers feel that they are victims and that they must solve problems
which the state should have solved, Vidakovic said.
The workers' suits against Leon Sulic (whose ownership over Croatia
Bus is contentious and, according to employees, management
scandalous) had been waiting for court decisions for years, while
Sulic's request for the de-blockade was solved overnight, he
added.
The protesters accuse Sulic of many irregularities such as
financial wrongdoing, tax evasion and illegal take-over of shares
for his personal benefits. They insist on the replacement of the
current board of managers.
