The government's press release says Semneby agreed with Granic, at
the same time pointing out the importance of national minorities
being represented at an acceptable level.
Voicing satisfaction with the July draft, Semneby stressed the need
for compatibility of the Law on the Rights of Minorities with EU
general standards, as well as the importance of reaching a mutually
acceptable solution, where he offered the support and help of the
OSCE.
Granic pointed out the complexity of the problem and the fact that
not even EU countries had a standard solution to the issue of
national minorities. He said the final draft would be sent to the
parliament, so an agreement reached would be the result of
parliamentary negotiations, the government's office said.
