Croatia has made encouraging progress in reforms and will be
considered for future membership, the statement from the Prague
summit said.
Progress in that regard will depend on future reform efforts in
Croatia, including co-operating with the International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the statement
continued.
The statement further notes that countries which were invited to
join the alliance in Prague today - Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia,
Lithuania, Rumania, Slovakia and Slovenia - will not be the last.
NATO's doors will remain open for European democracies that wish to
and are capable of taking on responsibility and obligations of
membership, the concluding statement stressed.
