"Blaskic case", the tribunal said on Thursday. #L#
Cerkez's attorneys Bozo Kovacevic and Goran Mikulicic, who are in
The Hague for the session of the appeals chamber which will discuss
whether new evidence was relevant to a retrial for some or all
counts of the indictment, believe that the evidence could be of
material assistance to Cerkez's appeals proceedings.
Cerkez was the direct subordinate of Blaskic.
Cerkez's attorneys have already retrieved a significant amount of
evidence from the Blaskic proceedings, which they have already
requested to be introduced in the appeals proceedings.
Kovacevic on Thursday said that documents from Bosnia's Archives
were significantly important for his client because the documents
introduced in the Kordic-Cerkez trial, which took place after
Blaskic's, came from Croatian Archives.
The court of first instance last year sentenced Cerkez to 15 years
in prison for crimes committed in Vitez. Since the passing if the
sentence, the attorneys have been conducting the appeals
procedure.
