ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivica Racan was quoted by
Croatian Radio on Monday as saying that not all coming from Europe
needed to be "fair and correct". #L#
Racan made this remark commenting on a report in which the NATO
Parliamentary Assembly, currently in session in Istanbul, referred
to Croatia. According to some media, Zagreb was reproached for
incidents in Piran Bay, corruption, and its treatment of Serbs and
co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the
former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
As regards Piran Bay, Racan said that both Croatia and Slovenia had
been at least equally involved in the incidents. He added that
Zagreb advocated international arbitration if the issue of the
demarcation of the border line at sea in Piran Bay could not be
settled with a bilateral agreement.
Responding to the criticisms about the treatment of ethnic Serbs,
the premier said Croatia was sometimes making too great efforts to
ensure the return of Serb refugees and provide for them fully.
"Many Croatian citizens do not have everything they need either,"
he said, adding that despite efforts Croatia still had not managed
to remove some obstacles.
We would certainly solve many things sooner if those who express
concern provided us also with greater financial assistance, the PM
added.
