This year's event, which was organised in cooperation with the
Croatian Society of Serbian Concentration Camp Inmates, addressed
concentration camps and human rights in Europe at the threshold of
the 21st century.
"We wish to research and present the truth about Vukovar as it is,
and not as individuals or groups who promote their own interests
wish to (present it)," the head of "Ivo Pilar", Vlado Sakic, said.
Speaking on behalf of the Croatian Society of Serbian Concentration
Camp Inmates, Zdravko Komsic warned about the danger of forgetting
the Serbian aggression and its effect on Vukovar and Croatia.
Former inmates have a duty to spread the truth about the abuse they
were subjected to in the Serbian concentration camps, said Komsic.
About 10,000 Croatian soldiers and civilians passed through those
camps, according to data of Komsic's society.
According to data of the government's Office for Detained and
Missing Persons, about 300 people were killed in those camps.
